🎈I saw photos of the Miao Village online and was deeply attracted. I took advantage of the February holiday and went with my friends. When I arrived, I found that the Miao Village in February was not as crowded as in the peak season. It was quiet and beautiful, and it was really worth it!
Here is a super practical guide for you, including attractions, food, accommodation, and transportation. It's all useful information, so save it now👇
🌟Must-see attractions
Miao Village Viewing Platform: You can take a sightseeing bus from Bridge No. 1 to get there. This is definitely the best place to overlook the whole Miao Village! If you go in February, it is recommended to go around 10–11 am, when the light is soft, the photos are super beautiful, and there is no backlight. Standing on the viewing platform, you can see the dense stilted buildings, surrounded by mountains in the distance, and the warm sunshine in February. The picture is as beautiful as a painting.
Ancient Stilted Buildings: Climb the mountain from the path next to the museum, passing through Dongyin Village, Yedong Village, Yangpai Village, Miao Wang's House, and Guzangtou. Along the way, you can see the most authentic Miao Village buildings, and the mottled wooden walls tell the story of time. If you like taking photos, don't miss it. You can take retro and artistic photos in any corner.
Terraced Fields: Although the terraced fields in February are not as green as in spring and summer, they have a unique tranquility. You can walk to the terraced field viewing platform on the ring road, see the terraced fields in different levels, and feel the magic of nature. If you are lucky, you can also see the beautiful scenery of clouds and mist, as if you are in a fairyland.
Performance Venue: You can enter with a ticket to see the regular performance, which lasts about 30 minutes. You can enjoy the Miao-style song and dance performance, which is very exciting. If you want to see a large-scale Miao-style evening show, you need to buy another ticket. There are relatively few tourists in February, so you don't have to squeeze in to watch the performance, and the experience is great.
Museum: On the ancient street, you can enter with a ticket. The museum displays the cultural history and customs of the Miao people. After a tour, you can have a deeper understanding of the Miao people. It is a good place to gain knowledge.
Miao Village River: The section from Bridge No. 5 to Bridge No. 4 is super beautiful in the evening! It gets dark late in February, and the lights gradually turn on around 7 pm. The river reflects the lights, and the whole picture is super dreamy, like walking into a fairy tale world.
🍲Must-try food
Long Table Banquet: A must-try in Miao Village! It costs tens of yuan per person, with singing and a high mountain and flowing water toasting ceremony, and the atmosphere is full! Everyone sits around and tastes the Miao-style food, feeling the unique ethnic culture. It's so interesting. But be careful, if you can't drink, don't get "drunk"😜
Sour Soup Fish: A specialty of Guizhou, with rich sour soup and tender fish. The restaurant we went to made the sour soup with local tomatoes and peppers, and the taste was very authentic. A bite of fish and a sip of sour soup is simply amazing!
Guizhou Cuisine: In addition to sour soup fish, Guizhou cuisine in Miao Village is also worth a try. Spicy chicken and stir-fried bacon with Houttuynia cordata are all very appetizing. If you like spicy food, don't miss it.
Breakfast: The rural noodle shop on the left side of the main street at the entrance of the Dong Village is a must-try. The soup is rich, and the rice noodles are smooth. A bowl in the morning will give you full energy. The glutinous rice and pig's trotters on the snack street at Bridge No. 4 are also good, suitable for breakfast or snacks.
🚗Miao Village Transportation
External Transportation: You can choose to drive by yourself and enjoy the scenery along the way, or take the high-speed rail to Kaili City and then transfer to the Miao Village. If you don't want to bother, it is recommended to take the high-speed rail, which is convenient and fast.
Internal Transportation: After arriving at the Miao Village, cars cannot enter, and you need to take the scenic sightseeing bus. You can buy sightseeing bus tickets online in advance or buy them at the scenic spot, which is very convenient.
🏠Accommodation
There are many accommodation options in Miao Village, and it is recommended to choose a homestay halfway up the mountain, with a great view! You can see the whole Miao Village when you open the window, and you can fall asleep with the lights at night. However, when booking a room online, be sure to check the reviews, as some pictures may differ from reality. The homestay we stayed in had a great view, but the room facilities were a bit old. You can do more research before deciding.
💖In general, Xijiang Qianhu Miao Village in February is really worth a visit. You can avoid the peak tourist season and enjoy the unique scenery and food. Although there are many slopes in the Miao Village, which are a bit tiring to walk, it is all worth it. Guys, hurry up and plan your trip!
