I contacted Le Coste directly by email, made an appointment, and asked for a personal tour, and they agreed. The soil in this area is formed by the accumulation of volcanic gravel, tuff, and fine granular stones, and is sandy and volcanic deposits, especially rich in iron, which, together with the limestone, give the grapes their characteristic minerals. The altitude is also high. The slope is 350 to 450 meters, and the land is more uneven than flat. He harvests and brews using 3 hectares of land he acquired in 2004, his grandfather's field, and 3 hectares of small abandoned land in the surrounding area (very old trees). The farming method does not use any pesticides or compost in the fields. They don't just grow grapes in the fields, they also grow vegetables, olives and other fruits for their own consumption.
