Wat Phu Stone Temple

Wat Phu is an ancient site in Laos, recognized as the country's second World Heritage Site. It is a Brahmin temple dedicated to Lord Shiva, situated on Phu Hill, also known as Phu Kao (meaning 'topknot'). The temple is located about 6 kilometers from the old town of Champasak. The structure of the temple is a Khmer sanctuary, similar to Preah Vihear Temple, and was built around the 11th century during the reign of King Mahendravarman by Phraya Kammatha. It is considered the oldest stone temple in existence.
