Zhongshan Bridge: Strings of the Yellow River

If you fall in love with a river, you will fall in love with a bridge. The Zhongshan Bridge in Lanzhou, renowned globally as the "First Bridge over the Yellow River," attracts countless visitors from all over the world every day, including me. This morning, I walked along the bluestone pavement of the riverside road. Where the willow branches drooped, I suddenly saw the Yellow River, like a giant golden scaled python, breaking through the morning light. The roaring waves awakened the sleeping steel beams. The five arch ribs of the Zhongshan Bridge, like a bronze harp, hung upside down in the clouds. The bridge was full of tourists. The sounds of the tide and people startled the gray pigeons drinking water on the sandbar. In an instant, hundreds of silver wings swept across the iron bridge, like living characters scattered across the sky, spelling out flowing lines of poetry between the bridge arches. As I took the cable car along the bronze harp towards Baitashan, the entire iron bridge transformed into a giant sound box, and the flapping wings of the pigeons resembled leaping musical notes. The two complemented each other, playing a series of moving symphonies. It was wonderful. When the cable car reached the halfway point up the mountain, the entire Yellow River suddenly unfolded into a giant ink painting. The steel trusses of the Zhongshan Bridge appeared in the clouds, and the cruise ships on the river trailed long white lines, like silk ribbons tied to the bronze-colored river water. This scene was truly beautiful. Standing on Baitashan Mountain and looking down at the earth, I saw the green mountains and the iron bridge complementing each other, and the tireless Yellow River water was melting 60,000 tons of steel and 5,000 years of civilization into an eternally flowing poem. How beautiful is the Zhongshan Bridge!
