Han Henghou Temple

The Han Huanhou Temple in Langzhong, Sichuan, is commonly known as the Zhang Fei Temple and was also called the Xiongwei Temple in the Ming Dynasty. In the first year of Zhangwu (221 AD), Zhang Fei was killed by his subordinates Zhang Da and Fan Qiang. He was posthumously named Huan Hou and buried in Langzhong. After Zhang Fei was killed, people respected his loyalty and bravery, and built a tomb and a temple for him to commemorate him. Today's Huanhou Temple is a quadrangular courtyard-style ancient building complex rebuilt during the Ming and Qing dynasties. It is magnificent in scale and exquisitely built. It consists of a mountain gate, a Diwan Tower, left and right archways, east and west wing rooms, a main hall, a rear hall, a tomb pavilion, and a tomb mound. It is a major site of the Three Kingdoms culture.
