Wat Phra Chedi Sao Lang, an ancient site with a blend of Lanna and Burmese art.

🙏From the evidence of the excavation of amulets from the Hariphunchai period at the chedi, it is assumed that Wat Phra Chedi Saw Lang was built for more than a thousand years. The highlight of the temple is the Phra That Chedi Saw Lang, which is a combination of Lanna and Burmese art in white. The largest one is in the center, surrounded by nineteen other chedis. Therefore, the villagers call it Wat Chedi Saw Lang. The word Saw is a northern word meaning twenty, and Lang means one. Wat Chedi Saw Lang means a temple with twenty chedis. The front of each chedi is an arch with a Buddha image inside. 🙏All twenty chedis were renovated during the reign of Chao Bunwat Wongmanit, the ruler of Lampang in 1923. Interesting things in the temple include: 🏕A small chapel located on the side of the chedi group enshrines a bronze Buddha image in the meditation posture in the Chiang Saen style. The villagers call it Luang Pho Phra Than Chai. 🏡A large ordination hall with all three doors are antiques. The detailed water-spraying pattern is beautiful. The pillars, arches, and windows are decorated with stained glass patterns, which are modern art. Inside, the principal Buddha image is enshrined in the Mara-Vijaya posture, with beautiful Buddha characteristics. 🏕 The sermon hall is a single-storey wooden house. Behind the ordination hall is the Khelang Nakhon Museum, displaying antiques donated by villagers. 🙏 “Phra Saen Sae Thongkham” is a statue of the Mara-Vijaya posture in Lanna art, around the 21st Buddhist century. The lap is 9.5 inches wide and 15 inches high. It is a pure gold Buddha image weighing 100 baht and two salung, which was excavated by villagers in 1983 and given to the temple.
