Pongsanuk Nuea Temple

Wat Pong Sanuk Nuea, Lampang Province It is assumed that it was built during the time when Prince Anantayas, the son of Queen Chamadevi of Hariphunchai, came to build Khelang Nakhon. There is a thousand-sided wooden temple, a four-sided temple with a very beautiful design. It is the only temple left in Thailand that is a hall temple with four Buddha statues in each direction. The decoration is a combination of Chinese, Burmese, Lanna and Rattanakosin art. The structure of the temple is an open pavilion with four Buddha statues in the center. Each Buddha's face faces the four directions. The roof is three-layered and beautifully decorated. Almost every square pillar supporting the temple is decorated with intricate patterns. The upper and inner areas of the temple are decorated with 1,080 small Buddha statues. This is the origin of the name of the thousand-sided temple. Wat Pong Sanuk used to be Wat Sadu Mueang and was the place where the city pillar was first buried in 1857 before being buried.
