Mangkon Buppharam Temple

Wat Mangkon Buppharam, Tambon Pliew, Amphoe Laem Sing, Chanthaburi Province The only Chinese temple in Chanthaburi Province. The Chinese name is 龍華寺, pronounced in Teochew as 'Leng Hua Yi', which is the same as 'Long Hua Shi', but is commonly spelled in Thai as "Leng Hua Yi". It is located on Sukhumvit Road or Highway No. 3 before reaching the entrance to Pliew Waterfall. According to history, this temple is related to Wat Mangkon Kamalawat (Leng Noei Yi) in Bangkok and Wat Chinese Prachasamosorn (Leng Hok Yi) in Chachoengsao. It is not just that the Chinese names start with Leng (龍), which means "dragon", but also because all three temples are related to Phra Ajahn Chin Wangsamathiwat (Sok Heng), the first great leader of the Chinese sect in Thailand. In other words, he was the founder of Wat Leng Noei Yi and Wat Leng Hok Yi, and was preparing to build another Wat Leng Hua Yi in Chanthaburi. Phra Ajahn Sookheng reported the construction of the temple to King Chulalongkorn during his visit to Phliu Waterfall in 1884, but before construction could begin, he passed away.
