This time I came to Lower Labuan, Indonesia, and deliberately chose the Katamalan Hotel and Resort Komodo far away from the city. Whether you are greeting the sunrise with a magnificent ocean view in the early morning or chilling comfortably by the pool at night watching the sunset, the picture is serene and healing, taking a second away from the hustle and bustle. 📍Hotel location and transportation: Built on a hillside, Katamalan Komodo looks out to an unbeatable view of the sea and distant mountains, 16 minutes drive to the airport, a little distance down Labuan Bajo city center (about 15-20 minutes drive), suitable for those who want to escape the world or desperately seek tranquility. The hotel is not near a busy area, and food and shopping depend on the hotel itself, but it is actually very convenient to go to the famous sea spots, and there is also a booked shuttle service. 🌄Environmental Landscape: The view is definitely highlighted throughout, some room types have an oversized sea view balcony, taking pictures in the morning or dusk without obstruction. It is serene around the pool at night, and the ambience of Komodo’s island cluster is great. The hotel has a novel design with a modern style, which is full of space and great for photography. 🏄Facility Events: Newly opened so the hardware is all handsome, the pool is not big but chill enough. Offering paid kayaking, stand-up paddles, snorkeling and other water activities, you don’t have to worry about getting bored — but note that the hotel itself does not have a beach, and you have to go out extra if you want to step on the sand. The rooms are big enough to not feel stuffy, and some rooms have Netflix/YouTube equipment, so you won't be bored if you don't go out during the rainy season. The breakfast is of high quality, with a choice of Chinese, Indian and Western cuisine. I recommend their Indonesian fried rice and fried rice. 👨👩👧👦Service Highlights: The hotel staff was super polite, WhatsApp was able to negotiate arrangements, solving problems efficient enough. Family friendly, breakfast for kids is still free, and facilities and activities cater to all ages. Residents reflect that the price is reasonable, the only need to note that some charges are more vague, to ask for details. 🏝️ Nearby attractions and tips: The location is more isolated, but as a starting point to Komodo National Park for diving, snorkeling or dragon hunting, Catamalan is super convenient. The nearby Waecicu Beach is mainly used for sea and viewing purposes, but if you want to play in the sand, it is recommended to arrange a boat out to other small islands in the national park. At night, it is recommended to stay in the hotel chill and watch the stars. If you are interested, you might as well get a special drink at the bar and talk to friends. 🔔 Booking Tips: It is recommended to check whether the room has a sea view balcony, overall value for money but be aware of any additional charges such as water activities / room snacks, and special food requirements must be notified in advance. Booking a room during the off-season or non-evening holidays will be cheaper, and the villa is more recommended for family guests or close friends to stay together.
