📍Kyoto. One-Day Itinerary 🇯🇵

We explored Kyoto while driving here from Osaka. We arrived at Gion Shijo station and refueled with coffee and onigiri from a convenience store. We headed from the very beginning to the main point, Kiyomizudera Temple, through the shopping streets of the Kiyomizu district, the very same geisha and maiko-san quarter. (We don't expect to get there in 40 minutes; the map shows it'll take about 3 hours 😀 and the main thing is not to get lost among the tempting stalls and alleyways.) We spend another hour and a half at the temple. We make sure to get a fortune told and stroll around the entire grounds. Rice pancakes, pickled cucumber, matcha ice cream, and various tastings will definitely not leave you hungry. Then we smoothly move to Yasaka Jinja, stopping along the way at the quiet oasis of peace, Maruyama Park. And now, exhausted and worn out, but with a full phone and a satisfied face, we head towards Pontocho to finally get something to eat. Ramen, sushi, onigiri, oh my god—it's simply impossible to choose! KYOTO ENGINE RAMEN is the perfect spot for vegans and meat eaters! (According to meat eater Styopa, they had the best ramen here.) Filling, delicious, just what you need after a six-hour walk. Still got some energy left? Then, after a hearty dinner, we turn the corner to Nishiki for souvenirs, new clothes, or a serving of desserts 😏. By evening, completely exhausted, we load ourselves onto the train and head back to Osaka, already making plans for our next visit 🙌🏼

Three cities, one amazing autumn adventure in Japan! 🍁✨ The fall colors in Tokyo, Osaka, and Kyoto are next-level, but Kyoto totally steals the show with its tranquil temples, vibrant leaves, and epic food scene. Top Spots to Visit in Kyoto: 1. Fushimi Inari Taisha (68 Fukakusa Yabunouchicho, Fushimi Ward) – Head there early morning for the iconic red torii gates glowing in autumn light. 2. Kiyomizu-dera Temple (294 Kiyomizu 1-chome, Higashiyama Ward) – The views over colorful forests are unreal, especially around sunset. 3. Arashiyama Bamboo Grove – Wander through this mystical forest, then check out the nearby river for jaw-dropping leaf views. 4. Nishiki Market – Snack heaven! Try fresh matcha mochi, grilled seafood, and don’t miss a steaming bowl of local ramen topped with green onion and cilantro—perfect energy boost for exploring. 5. Gion District – Stroll here at night to spot modern architecture lit against historic streets and maybe catch a glimpse of geisha. Insider tip: Kyoto's outdoor culture is vibrant—grab some bread or classic Japanese street food from market stalls and have a mini picnic under the trees. Most temples open 6:00–17:00, but some light up for night viewing (check hours before you go). Getting Around: Kyoto’s buses and metro are easy and cheap; get an IC card for tap-and-go convenience everywhere. Walking between attractions is pleasant and gives the best city vibe. Food Tip: Warm up with ramen or charcoal-grilled meat from small eateries around Nishiki Market. Sunny days mean plenty of spots for outdoor dining! Key Tips: No visa needed for many travelers. Weather is dry and cool—bring layers! Book hotels and rail tickets in advance via trip.com. #KyotoAutumn #JapanFoodie #TravelTips #tripdotcom
