I went to Imamiya Shrine, which has been worshiped since ancient times as a god who grants protection from epidemics. Upon entering the shrine grounds, you are greeted by a gorgeous flower water basin. In contrast to the bustling tourist spots of Kyoto, you can spend a relaxing time in a solemn and calm atmosphere. I wrote my name and address on a human-shaped "Yasurai Ningyo" (relaxing doll) and wrote my wishes for health and protection from misfortune. In the shrine grounds, there is also a stone called Omokaru-ishi (divine divination stone). 🪨 This stone is said to have the power to speed up recovery from illness. I also tried out the popular "Wakahime Omikuji" (fortune-telling slip). Along with the fortune, a heartfelt waka poem is also included, and many people take them home as bookmarks because of their cute appearance, making them the perfect memento of your trip 🔖 After worshiping, head to Aburimochi Honke Nemoto Kazariya, a long-established aburimochi shop located in front of the shrine gate 🍡 This shop, which has been in business since the Heian period, carefully roasts the mochi on bamboo skewers by hand over a charcoal fire. The small mochi, fragrantly browned and coated with sweet and spicy white miso sauce, was unforgettably delicious.
