#MarchGoodPlaces2025 My first experience at one of the three great Kyoto ryokans - Tawaraya Ryokan. This ryokan was founded in the Edo period and has a history of over 300 years. It is recognized by experts as the best ryokan in Japan. Tawaraya was originally a branch of a wholesaler of kimono silk from Sekishu in Kyoto. The inn business began because the person in charge stationed in Kyoto at the time, Okazaki Kazusuke, was very good at entertaining guests, and the samurai from Sekishu's hometown would stay here when they came to Kyoto. Tawaraya has been renovated and many Western-style trendy designs have been added to the old Japanese house. There is an entrance corridor with wooden floors and tatami mats. From the entrance, you can see the atrium with natural light at the end of the corridor, the corridor surrounding the patio, and the corridors extending in all directions. My favorite space is the small study room. The greenery of the half window reflects the elegant Goryeo cave, which looks gentle and bright. The elegant garden, exquisite decoration and exquisite light and shadow condense the ultimate beauty of Japanese culture. This is the charm of Tawara-ya. As for the room rates, which are hard to come by, they are also quite shocking. #MarchGoodPlaces2025 Shijo Bridge is a bridge across the Kamogawa River in Kyoto, Japan. It was built in 1142 (the second year of the Eiji Era) and is a bridge with a very long history. There is a lot of traffic here, and the western part of the Kamogawa River is the commercial district of Shijo Kawaramachi. The crowded people on the bridge are in stark contrast to the people sitting on the riverside below the bridge after a leisurely stroll. If you come in spring or autumn, you can enjoy the blooming cherry blossoms and falling maple leaves. It is so beautiful. (Unfortunately, I came a little late, and the cherry blossom season has passed. Although it is a little regrettable, it feels a little unrealistic to be able to walk in such a long history and integrate it with real life. 🙈) The tranquility of Kamogawa makes people reluctant to leave. But this is the last stop of the Osaka-Kyoto trip. If I didn't have to catch a flight and rush back to the hotel to get my luggage, I really hope to continue walking along the Kamogawa River (but it seems a bit difficult to walk 33 kilometers 😂), and I can also see one of the unique scenery of the Kamogawa River, various strange flying stones and turtle stones, which are attractions that appear in many TV dramas and animations. The best time to see the cherry blossoms is from mid-February to late March, and this year they are in full bloom. In spring, the lush forests are interspersed with pink cherry blossoms, accompanied by the sound of the stream, which also becomes a small journey to purify the soul. 🌟🌟🚂 You need to buy tickets in advance to take the Sagano train, or you can choose to buy them directly at the ticket machine or counter. (There were not many people when we went, so we bought them directly at the counter. When thinking of the most magnificent building in Kyoto, many people would immediately think of the Kinkaku-ji Temple. In fact, its official name is Rokuon-ji Temple. In the first year of the Oei era, the Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu was awarded the Kitayama House. Yoshimitsu carried out a large-scale renovation and built the Shariden into a magnificent building. At that time, it was called the Kinkakuden, which was the earliest appearance of Rokuon-ji Temple. Later, it was used as a place for Zen practice. After Ashikaga Yoshimitsu passed away, the national master Muso suggested that the temple be named after Yoshimitsu, and thus the name Rokuon-ji came into being. However, Kinkaku-ji Temple had an unfortunate fate and was burned down during the Onin War. In 1935, according to legend, a trainee monk burned down Kinkaku-ji Temple because it was so beautiful that he did not want to share it with others, and all the Buddha statues, scriptures and the wooden statue of Ashikaga Yoshimitsu were destroyed. The description in the works of writer Yukio Mishima makes this event even more legendary. The Kinkaku-ji Temple we see today was rebuilt in its original form in 1955, and the entire hall was decorated with gold foil in 1987. ‘Onyado Nono Kyoto Shichijo Hotel’ My personal rating ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The rooms are very clean. You have to walk barefoot inside the hotel. The large public bath on the first floor is great, and they provide free ice cream and yogurt after your bath! There are also massage chairs to relieve your fatigue! (Limited number, so there might be a wait) The late-night ramen was decent enough to satisfy your hunger (free). The breakfast quality was amazing. The tempura was freshly fried and absolutely delicious. There were many other food options to choose from, making breakfast very enjoyable! (Highly recommend the breakfast) I had a headache and asked the front desk for some headache medicine. They kindly explained everything and even suggested taking a photo just in case! The best!
