However, it was very hot at noon. The Heian Shrine covers a large area and there are not many trees, so it was very sunny when walking there. The only good thing is that there are fewer people at noon. "Heian Shrine" is located in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City. It is also a famous cherry blossom viewing spot. It is famous for its huge vermilion torii and the Jidai Festival, one of the three major festivals in Kyoto. The shrine building is quite magnificent, made of vermilion lacquer and green glazed tiles, and is colorful. The garden behind it is even more beautiful and elegant. It was built to commemorate the 1100th anniversary of the founding of Kyoto. There is no entrance fee to Heian Shrine itself, only the gardens behind it require tickets.
