Kyoto / Gion Go-matsuri "Flower Umbrella Parade, Yamaboko Parade" It was a novelty to attend the festival for the first time😍 I was lucky to be in the front row of the rock section. The parade was a bit like our temple fair. I saw the children parading and I was so excited that I kept shouting (Vieshow, Vieshow)😂 The Geisha parade... It's different from what I imagined😅... I thought all geishas were as beautiful as Zhang Ziyi... But the Yamaboko car parade is very special. They are built one by one before the festival, and are pulled by manpower during the parade. The most exciting part is the turning point. The Minami-Kannonyama Hokocars and Takayama in the later festival are the largest. It takes 3 turns to complete. The locals will clap and cheer every time the car turns 👍🏼 Some Yamaboko are smaller in size, so they will turn 2 or 3 times at the turning point during the parade. The audience also clapped and cheered vigorously, and it was very lively. Unfortunately, I didn't book a flight for the pre-festival, so I could only catch the post-festival. The Yamaboko and flower umbrella parade is well worth participating in.
