Ramadan Dinner at Union Bistrot, TRX: A Fusion Feast to Remember

Ramadan is a time for reflection, togetherness, and of course, indulging in heartwarming meals. This year, I had the pleasure of experiencing a delightful Ramadan dinner at Union Bistrot, TRX, a place that masterfully blends local flavors with global inspirations. With its contemporary interior and inviting ambience, the restaurant set the perfect tone for an evening of culinary exploration. A Flavorful Start The meal kicked off with an array of beautifully crafted appetizers that set high expectations for the night: • Kurma Krunch – A unique take on a traditional favorite, this dish featured a kurma (date) compote nestled in a peanut butter chocolate tart, offering a rich and indulgent start to the meal. • Shrimply Soto with Roti John – A clever fusion of flavors, this dish combined a mantou-style Roti John with shrimp Soto soup, topped with crispy fried Soo Hoon for a delightful crunch. • Murtabak – Taking a twist on the classic, the chicken murtabak was wrapped in Lobak skin and served alongside a chicken potato curry, creating a harmony of textures and flavors. The Main Event: Fusion at Its Finest The mains showcased the chef’s creativity, blending beloved Malaysian flavors with modern execution: • Percik Poulet – A highlight of the night, this fusion take on percik chicken was served with percik sauce and smoked aioli, enhancing its smokiness and depth of flavor. • Sayur Lodeh Puff Dome – A unique presentation of traditional Lodeh vegetables encased in a golden puff pastry, giving the dish a contrast of crispy and creamy textures. • Sates-fying Biryani – This dish lived up to its name with a flavored basmati rice paired with braised lamb stuffed in a minced chicken skewer, served with a satay sauce and pickled cucumber salsa for a burst of spice and tanginess. A Sweet Ending to a Memorable Meal Just when I thought the meal couldn’t get any better, dessert arrived: • Umm Ali Cheesecake – A luxurious fusion of pistachio cheesecake, Kataifi pastry, candied pistachio, almonds, sultanas, and a drizzle of orange sauce. The combination of creamy, nutty, and citrusy flavors made this an unforgettable finale. 🕰️Business Hours: 10am to 10pm 📍Address: L1.46 The Exchange TRX 💰Average Price per Person: RM100 Every dish at Union Bistrot was a testament to the restaurant’s creativity and passion for bold flavors. While everything was enjoyable, the Percik Poulet and Umm Ali Cheesecake stood out as my absolute favorites. The fusion of traditional elements with modern twists made the entire meal a delightful experience. If you’re looking for a Ramadan dining experience that blends tradition with innovation, Union Bistrot is definitely worth a visit. Would I return? Absolutely! I can’t wait to see what other unique creations they come up with next. #myitinerary #localfood #foodfusion #malaysiatrip #citydaytours #ramadan #ramadanfeast #iftarfeast
