Salt Mine in Wieliczka

The salt mine in Wieliczka is the oldest salt mining enterprise in Poland, founded in the Middle Ages and then proudly called “Magnum Sal”, that is, “Great Salt”. For many centuries, it has been the main source of state revenues and the material basis for the development of culture. Today it is the most popular tourist attraction in Poland. Centuries-old exploitation of salt deposits determined the modern spatial design of mine workings. They are located on nine underground levels with a total depth of 327 m. Sections 3.5 km long at a depth of 64 m to 135 m are open to visitors. There are two routes for tourists, tourist and mining. #bucketlistreboot #poland #wieliczka
