Its flowers emit a smell similar to rotting meat, so it is also called "corpse flower" to attract pollinators. Since the flowering period of the Rafflesia is extremely short, lasting only 5 to 7 days from bud to bloom, and the flowering time is difficult to predict, it takes a certain amount of luck to be able to witness the Rafflesia blooming with your own eyes. To increase the chances of seeing the Rafflesia, visitors can head to the Rafflesia Information Centre in Sabah.  It should be noted that it is usually necessary to pay an entrance fee to enter the Rafflesia Conservation Area, and because the flowering period of the Rafflesia is uncertain, it is recommended to confirm the current flowering situation with the relevant department or travel agency before going. In addition, when visiting, the regulations of the reserve should be followed to avoid disturbing the Rafflesia and its habitat. Overall, being able to witness the blooming of the Rafflesia in the tropical rainforest of Sabah is a rare and unforgettable experience.
