It was created in 1987 by filling in the area between the "Meriken Wharf" that opened in 1868 and the central embankment built in the Taisho era. The park is home to the Kobe Maritime Museum, the BE KOBE Monument, and the Kobe Meriken Park Oriental Hotel. The night view is also wonderful.
