Prasat Sdok Kok Thom

“Prasat Sdok Kok Thom”, Sa Kaeo Province is the largest stone castle in the eastern part of Thailand. The word ‘Sdok Kok Thom’ means ‘a city with reeds growing in a large swamp’. The plan of Prasat Sdok Kok Thom also reflects the belief in the universe of Hinduism, with Mount Sumeru in the middle, surrounded by a huge ring of water. It is a religious site according to the beliefs of Hinduism, Shaivism, which worships Shiva as the greatest. It was built with sandstone and laterite, Khmer art in the Khlang-Bapuan style during the reign of King Udayadityavarman II. The main castle faces east, surrounded by a wall, a covered walkway, and a library, which is a building or temple on both sides of the main castle.
