Wat Chang Hai Rat Buranaram

Wat Chang Hai is located in Tambon Khuan Noree, Amphoe Khok Pho. It is an ancient temple that was built over 300 years ago. According to legend, Phraya Kaem Dam, the lord of Sai Buri, wanted to find a location to build a new city for his sister. So he made a wish and let the elephant travel into the forest with the lord and his soldiers following him. One day, the elephant stopped at a certain place and roared three times. Phraya Kaem Dam took it as a good sign and wanted to use that area to build a city. However, his sister did not like it, so Phraya Kaem Kham ordered a temple to be built in that area instead. He named it Wat Chang Hai and invited a monk whom the villagers called Than Langka, Somdet Phra Kho, or Luang Pho Thuad who stepped on the fresh sea water.
