Nepal Kathmandu Monkey Temple

As one of the must-visit attractions in Kathmandu, the Monkey Temple, located about three kilometers from the city center, is a scenic spot that combines rich religious civilization and unique natural scenery. The Monkey Temple, also known as Swayambhunath, is named after the hundreds of wild monkeys that live here and are regularly fed by monks. The Monkey Temple has three must-see attractions: the large Buddha stupa in the middle of the temple complex, the monkey population, which is more famous than the monkeys on China's Mount Emei, and the panoramic view of the Kathmandu Valley from the temple's observation platform. The Monkey Temple is located on a small hill and was built in the 4th century BC. With a history of more than 2,000 years, it is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Nepal and a world cultural heritage site. It is said that the Buddha, Shakyamuni, once visited this place, and every year, there are very grand Buddhist ceremonies held here on the Buddha's birthday. The Monkey Temple was not affected by the 2015 Nepal earthquake.
