The Tomb of Xiangfei in Kashgar.

The Tomb of Xiangfei is located in Haohan Village, 5 kilometers east of Kashgar City. It is a typical ancient Islamic complex and the mausoleum of the descendants of Islamic saints. It is said that the tomb houses 72 people from five generations of the same family (in reality, only 58 tombs of various sizes can be seen). The first generation was the famous Islamic missionary Yusufu Khoja. After his death, his eldest son Apak Khoja inherited his father's missionary work and became a famous master of the 'Yizhan Sect' of Islam in Kashgar during the late Ming and early Qing dynasties. He once seized the power of the Yarkand Dynasty. He died in 1693 and was also buried here. Due to his greater renown than his father, people later referred to this tomb as the 'Apak Khoja Tomb.' According to legend, among the descendants of Khoja buried here, there was a woman named Iparhan, who was the beloved concubine of Emperor Qianlong. Because she had a constant fragrance of oleaster flowers, people called her 'Xiangfei' (Fragrant Concubine). After Xiangfei's death, her sister-in-law Sudxiang escorted her body back to Kashgar and buried her in the Apak Khoja Tomb. Therefore, people also call this tomb the 'Tomb of Xiangfei.' However, according to research, Xiangfei was not buried here; her actual burial place is in the Yufei Garden of the Eastern Qing Tombs in Zunhua, Hebei. The Apak Khoja Tomb has withstood over three hundred years of history, maintaining its ancient architectural style with its resilient spirit. Visitors come here either to admire the fame of Xiangfei, for pilgrimage, or more often to witness the superb architectural techniques and artistic style of the Apak Khoja Tomb. The Tomb of Xiangfei is actually a common name for the Apak Khoja family mausoleum, which is a typical Islamic-style palace mausoleum.
