[Kazakhstan] A chalky land! The Ustyurt Plateau where dinosaur-era strata lie

The Ustyurt Plateau lies in Mangistau Oblast, facing the Caspian Sea in western Kazakhstan. Ancient strata from the Cretaceous period, the age of dinosaurs, remain exposed, and endless chalk earth and palace-like sculptures of the earth spread out before you. This is one of the top five most impressive spots in the history of the world. It is no exaggeration to say that it is the Grand Canyon of the West. It is truly a hidden place! When I visited in 2013, it was not developed as a tourist destination at all, but it seems to have improved a bit in recent years, and there are more local tours. The Ustyurt Plateau is also located on the Uzbekistan side, and it lies across the border to be precise. However, I personally feel that there are not enough photos of the Uzbekistan side (although it is quite amazing...) Photo on Oct 14th 2013 This is my own past pictures in Kazakhstan in 2013.
