Here’s the breakdown of my 3-day, 2-night trip to Kaohsiung and Tainan with a budget of 11,xxx THB. The trip focused on comfortable accommodations, delicious meals, and using public transportation.
✈️ Flight tickets cost 5,515 THB round trip, which is a great deal.
Outbound: Lion Air for 2,640 THB (excluding checked baggage).
Return: Air Asia for 2,875 THB (excluding checked baggage).
🏨 Accommodation for 2 nights cost 1,261 THB. It was a spacious room with 2 bedrooms, conveniently located, clean, and very private as we were the only group staying there during our visit.
🍜 Food expenses, including restaurants, street food, and convenience stores, totaled approximately 2,500 THB per person. We ate well every meal and snacked throughout the day.
🚄 Transportation costs for taxis, MRT, buses, and high-speed trains were around 1,000 THB. The prices were reasonable, and getting around was very convenient.
🖼️ Museum entrance fees totaled 412 THB. The art exhibits were excellent and reasonably priced.
🎟️ Temple entrance fee: 40 THB.
📱 SIM card: 75 THB for a 3-day eSIM.
📜 Travel insurance: 215 THB. There were various plans to choose from at good prices.
🧳 Luggage storage at automated lockers cost approximately 110 THB. We used the lockers multiple times at various locations. Every MRT station had lockers, making it very convenient.
Traveling to Kaohsiung and Tainan on a budget of just over 10,000 THB is absolutely doable. However, if you have more time, I recommend staying longer than 3 days to enjoy a more relaxed trip. For this trip, we managed to eat well, take lots of photos, enjoy plenty of art, and experience super convenient transportation.
