Neimen Zizhu Temple

Neimen Zizhu Temple is located in Guanting Village, Neimen District. Originally, it was the guardian deity of the Guo family. Due to the legendary story of Guanyin Bodhisattva's miraculous 'flying furnace,' the villagers collectively decided to build the temple. Its divine power spread far and wide, attracting devotees from all over Taiwan who travel long distances to pray for peace. The temple has a history of over 300 years, dating back to the Kangxi period of the Qing Dynasty. The main deity worshipped here is 'Guanyin Bodhisattva,' and every year on the 19th day of the 2nd lunar month, the temple holds a grand celebration for the deity's birthday. The temple also enshrines Guanyin Bodhisattva's father, 'Wugong Zunwang,' and her elder sisters, 'Miaoyin' and 'Miaoyuan.' Neimen is also famous nationwide for its 'Songjiang Battle Array,' a traditional martial arts performance. It is said to have originated from the escorting of the Buddha during the Luohanmen pilgrimage, a tradition that has been carried on for over a hundred years. Zizhu Temple is one of the main venues for the Kaohsiung Songjiang Battle Array Carnival. The annual performances rotate between Neimen Zizhu Temple, Nanhai Zizhu Temple, and Shunxian Temple. The temple complex is quite extensive, featuring Zizhu Park, Guangming Bridge (currently closed), a library, Shengde Hall (a restaurant), and other facilities for devotees. On regular days, the temple is bustling with worshippers, and tourists often stop by to enjoy the serene and beautiful scenery.
