🇹🇼Kaohsiung Chengcing Lake ~ Kaohsiung's soul lake🏞️

#Literary Traveler Chengcing Lake is located in Niaosong District, Kaohsiung City. It is the largest lake in the city and is also known as Dabei Lake and Dabei Lake. It is not only the main water source in Kaohsiung, but also a famous tourist attraction. The lake is wide and its outline is like an elephant, full of charm. Chengcing Lake has a long history. It is part of the Caogong Canal irrigation system and was originally a pond used to regulate farmland irrigation. After World War II, the Republic of China Army arrived in Taiwan and was stationed in the Happy Valley Camp in Dabei Lake. In 1963, Chiang Kai-shek stayed at the lakeside during his southern tour and instructed that the lake be renamed Chengcing Lake. Now, Chengcing Lake has become the soul lake of Kaohsiung City and has become a sister lake with Lake Tazawa in Akita Prefecture, Japan. By the lake, there is Chengqing Tower, Chiang Kai-shek’s former residence, open to visitors.
