Not only did I not see the snow-capped mountains and the golden mountain at sunrise, but I also experienced altitude sickness. July and August are the rainy season in western Sichuan. Before you go, check if there are any mudslides or road closures. 1. The altitude of Galdam Sky City and Gongga Snow Mountain (Mudu Pass) is around 4000 meters. It was cloudy, we didn't see the snow-capped mountains, and it was very cold, with temperatures around 10 degrees Celsius. The wind was strong and gave me a headache. Be sure to wear thick jackets, as there will be showers on the mountain. 2. I stayed in Xinduqiao and experienced altitude sickness. Oxygen, cola, and medicine only relieved the symptoms. The uncomfortable part was insomnia and a rapid heartbeat. The guide said that altitude sickness medicine needs to be taken a few days in advance to be effective. 3. Jiagenba is not far from Xinduqiao. It is very suitable for picnics and camping. You can buy ingredients in Xinduqiao town and go for a half-day picnic. Jiaju Tibetan Village was a surprising highlight of this trip, very suitable for summer vacation. The bonfire party at night, dancing Guozhuang together, was very atmospheric and fun. 4. Mount Siguniang, it rained heavily, and we couldn't see anything. We didn't go to the scenic area of Moxi Park, but took a small path to the scenic spot, where you can stand on the rocks and take pictures. 7. The road conditions from Xinduqiao to Jiaju Tibetan Village were not good. When we went on July 27, the road had just opened. There had been continuous heavy rain and mudslides in the previous days, making the road slippery with water accumulation. Four days and three nights itinerary: Day 1: Chengdu - Kangding - Honghaizi - Yuzixi - Xinduqiao Day 2: Xinduqiao - Jiagenba - Mudu Pass - Xinduqiao Day 3: Xinduqiao - Moxi Park - Yala Snow Mountain Viewing Platform - Jiaju Tibetan Village Day 4: Jiaju Tibetan Village - Shuangqiaogou - Balang Mountain - Chengdu I chose this relaxed route because I was afraid of climbing and walking. Fortunately, it wasn't tiring, otherwise, my altitude sickness would have been worse. Although the weather was bad, I had a great time. The guide was a Tibetan guy who was very lively, could sing and dance, and took good care of us girls. If it's sunny in western Sichuan in July and August, it will be very beautiful, but the weather in the plateau area is unstable. When you go, pay attention to whether there are mudslides, landslides, road closures, etc. Keep warm and protect yourself from the wind on the mountain.
