Kangaroo Island, also known as Kangaroo Island, is Australia's third largest island after Tasmania and Melville Island. The British explorer Matthew first discovered the island. Currently, about one-third of the island's land is still covered by native plant vegetation, and most of it remains in the National Conservation Park. The kangaroo island has about 18 native mammals, more than 900 species, of which 60 are endemic. Although most of the island's animals are moving at night, there are still opportunities to see animals such as kangaroos, kangaroo kangaroos and squirrels on both sides of the road in Flinders Zeiss National Park. Australian sea lions and New Zealand fur seals gather on the south coast of the island, and small penguins have a chance to see them across the coastline of Kangaroo Island.
