Kanchanaburi Death Railway 🚞

Kanchanaburi is about a three-hour drive from Bangkok. Most tourists come here for the Death Railway (Thai-Burma Railway). The Death Railway is 415 kilometers long. It was estimated to take six years to build, but it was completed in 17 months under the ruthless exploitation of prisoners of war. However, it also caused the deaths of more than 100,000 prisoners of war. This Death Railway can be said to have witnessed the cruelty of atrocities and war. The real tourist attraction is Tham Krasae Station on the riverside of Kanchanaburi, the starting point on the Thai side. Here you can walk on the railway that is still in use. You can even take pictures of the train when it is about to pass by. It is very realistic. The bottom of this railway is made of sleepers. There are hollow spaces between each section of the railway, and it is suspended in mid-air. It is actually a bit scary to walk on it, especially when you look down from the gaps in the sleepers.
