Kamakura Flower Season: Hase-dera Hydrangea Path

Hydrangeas, also known as Ajisai, are a must-see in mid-June when visiting Kamakura. One of the most famous spots for hydrangeas is the Hase-dera Hydrangea Path. To manage crowds, the official website opens online paid reservations every Thursday at 9 AM (10 AM Japan time) for the following week. By arriving during your reserved time slot, you can avoid the hassle of summer queues and better plan your itinerary. Upon arriving at Hase-dera, you need to purchase an admission ticket. Follow the signs upward to reach the designated entrance, where staff will scan your QR code for entry. Hase-dera features hydrangeas in various colors. The Hydrangea Path starts with stairs leading upward, then loops around a small slope before descending. Both sides of the path are adorned with hydrangeas, perfect for capturing beautiful photos. Avoiding other people in your shots may require some skill. Walking the entire path, including photo-taking time, takes about 30–40 minutes. While no one will rush you, maintaining a steady pace is encouraged. Bringing elders along for a photo session here will surely delight them!
