Marriott Mena House, Cairo Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
Cairo Hotel Marriott Mena House Mina Palace🇪🇬
#hotelreview
If I were to choose to stay at only one hotel in Cairo, I would not hesitate to choose this Marriott Mena House in the Mina Palace , not only because of its excellent scenery near the pyramid 🔺, but also because of its history. The soon to be fully opened Museum of Egypt is also very close, and I believe its popularity will continue to rise in the future.
This hotel, which opened in 1886, is now 139 years old. It was originally purchased by a British couple and opened to the public as a hotel. It provided Egypt's first hotel swimming pool in 1890, and was operated by the Indian luxury hotel brand Oberoi from 1972 to 2012 for 40 years. In 2015, it was taken over by Marriott and changed its name. As a witness to the Cairo Declaration in 1943 and Egypt's recovery of sovereignty over the Sinai Peninsula from Israel in 1978, my expectations for travel were already high.
The flags of various countries around the world at the entrance of the hotel are in line with the hotel's tone. After arriving at the drop off area, there is still a walk to reach the hotel's entrance. After security check, the front desk is on the left side, and a large Rolex gold watch and a portrait of the Marriott founder and his son are hung on the wall. The overall service was quite friendly, with a brief introduction to the hotel's facilities and opening hours. The hotel has a strong sense of history, with many old photos hanging in the lobby, hallway, and rooms
I only want to stay in a hotel in Cairo, Egypt
I only want to stay in a hotel in Cairo, Egypt|||Sitting in a wheelchair, I arrived in Cairo, my face covered in dust and sand.
But I fell in love with the hotel - Marriott Mena House, staying for 3 nights. In an area of yellow earth, the Mena House is truly an oasis of cleanliness.
Facing the Great Sphinx and the Pyramids of Giza, you can enjoy the view of the pyramids while having breakfast.
Besides, the Cairo Agreement was signed here, and Agatha Christie stayed in this hotel while she completed 'Death on the Nile'. I can understand why; I don't even want to leave.
Celebrate the New Year under the pyramid, at the Marriott Hotel in Mena Palace, Cairo, Egypt
Without saying much, this is a hotel born at the finish line, and just dining with the pyramids is better than countless in the world.
The hotel has hosted numerous important figures and witnessed countless historical moments in its over a hundred years since its birth. Even the well-known Cairo Declaration was signed here. We are not here to stay, but to write history.
The hotel is right under the eyelids of the Khufu Pyramid, and can't be any closer. It's just a few minutes' walk to the ticket office at the north gate of the pyramid. If it were managed according to China's methods for cultural relics, this hotel would have to be demolished. But the hotel itself has a long history and significant meaning, and it has become a cultural relic, an immovable cultural relic on par with the pyramids. Therefore, it is extraordinary for us ordinary people to have the privilege of sleeping with these two.
Booked in advance with a suite coupon, but was ruthlessly rejected. Fortunately, I was upgraded to a supreme garden view room for free when I arrived. The decoration and maintenance of the room are much better than expected.
There is actually an executive lounge, and the products are very complete, which can be used as a regular dinner. On the day of check-in, it happened to be the Spring Festival, and more than half of the guests in the lounge were Chinese, rolling out of Asia, and the atmosphere was no different from the Marriott lounges in China.
The scenic dining seats framed with the pyramid by the pond, with two rows of more than a dozen tables, are highly competitive. Breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner are all first come, first served. In fact, it's not comfortable to really grab it, it's hot during the day and cold at night, but it's indeed very, very photogenic.
The hotel also offers a pyramid tour charter service, 1600 Egyptian pounds for two hours, which is not cheap. But thinking about the possibility of being in the yellow sand under the scorching sun, fighting wits and courage with various vendors and being tricked, I feel this money is necessary. As a result, it was indeed worry-free, and I got tired of seeing the pyramids and the Sphinx from all angles. This itinerary is especially suitable for people who don't like riding horses or camels.
Tips 1, you don't have to stay, you can visit here for free as a tourist attraction or come to eat as a restaurant.
Tips 2, all consumption other than accommodation requires payment in Egyptian pounds.

The Museum of Egyptian Antiquities Travel Recommendations for 2024 (Updated in Jun)
Remarkable artistic work from ancient Egypt
Ancient Egyptian artifacts and relics represent a fascinating glimpse into one of the most iconic and advanced civilizations in history. These artifacts provide invaluable insight into the daily life, beliefs, and achievements of the ancient Egyptians. From monumental structures like the Great Pyramid of Giza to intricate treasures found in tombs, each artifact tells a story of a society that thrived along the Nile for thousands of years.
Perhaps one of the most famous types of artifacts from ancient Egypt are the magnificent statues and sculptures. These range from colossal depictions of pharaohs and gods to delicate figurines that were often included in tombs. These statues serve not only as artistic masterpieces but also as powerful symbols of the divine and the afterlife in Egyptian culture.

Egyptian Pyramids | At this moment, history is right before my eyes
| At this moment, history is right before my eyes.
In the 9th century, when Arabs entered Egypt, they said, 'Men fear time, yet time fears the pyramids.' The Great Pyramid of Khufu was once the tallest structure in the world, standing tall over humanity for four thousand years.
One should visit the Egyptian pyramids at least once in a lifetime, for they are grander and more mysterious than any textbook could convey.
📍Entrance hours: 8:00-16:30, no entry after 16:00. Starting from the East Gate, you will face the Sphinx and the pyramids right away.
Ticket price: 540 EGP. Payment must be made by card, cash is not accepted! Bring your visa card! It is recommended to go as early as possible, as it is generally not too hot in the morning and you can avoid large crowds.
🔹Ignore those who greet you, offer camel rides, or to take photos for you. This can prevent any unnecessary interactions and help, as there are countless scammers in Egypt, with half of them in the pyramid area.
🔸If you want to ride a camel or a horse-drawn carriage, make sure to ask for the price clearly, confirm whether it's for a one-way or round trip, and to avoid mid-way price increases, pay at the end. For reference, the three of us paid a total of 360 Egyptian pounds for a round trip to the viewing point by horse-drawn carriage.
🔹It gets very hot starting from noon, so make sure to bring sun protection and drinking water for hydration.
🔹It is suggested to wear a post-apocalyptic style or brightly colored flowing long dress for the perfect atmosphere.
📸Photo spots:
1️⃣Front view of the Sphinx + pyramid scene, located not far from the entrance of the East Gate.
2️⃣Background of the Great Pyramid, to the right-hand side of the Sphinx, where there are some piles of stones. It's great for taking photos whether you're standing or sitting.
3️⃣Panoramic View of the Pyramids: 'Nine pyramids in a row' viewing point, which is quite a walk. You can ride a camel or a horse-drawn carriage to get there~
Egypt is six hours ahead of China. After a 12-hour flight, the plane landed at Cairo airport. Just after landing, we rushed to the highlight of our Egypt trip today - the "Khufu Pyramid", located 16 kilometers south of Cairo. It is undoubtedly the tallest and largest building in the world. The three pyramids seen on site have stood on the Giza plateau for more than 4,500 years. They were built by three generations of Pharaoh Khufu's family in the Fourth Dynasty of ancient Egypt, and are commonly known as the "Father, Son, and Grandson Pyramids".
The Great Pyramid of Giza is 146 meters high and is made up of approximately 2.3 million stone blocks. The outer layer consists of around 115,000 blocks, each weighing an average of 2.5 tons, about the size of a small car. It took approximately 30 years to build the Great Pyramid of Giza. It is currently the top of the list of the Seven Wonders of the World and the only one that remains.
THE GIZA PYRAMIDS 🇪🇬😍😍😍
#giza #pyramids #hotel #cairo
The complex is located on the edge of the Western Desert, about 9 kilometers (5.6 miles) west of the Nile River in the city of Giza, and about 13 kilometers (8 miles) southwest of downtown Cairo. The site (along with the neighboring city of Memphis) was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1979.
The Great Pyramid and the Pyramid of Khafre are among the largest pyramids built in ancient Egypt, and they were historically popular as symbols of ancient Egypt in the Western imagination. They became famous in Hellenistic times, when the Great Pyramid was included by the Greek poet Antipater as one of the Seven Wonders of the World. They are by far the oldest and only surviving ancient wonders of the world.
And the pyramids, according to one of the hypotheses, are royal tombs, each of which bears the name of the king who built it and was buried in it. Then it developed to take the form of a step pyramid by the engineer Imhotep, the minister of the pharaoh and King Djoser in the Third Dynasty. This was followed by two attempts by King Senefru, founder of the Fourth Dynasty, to build a complete hierarchical form. However, the backs of the two pyramids are not correct in shape, and they are located in Dahshur. One of them has a flattened base, and the other has a smaller shape, about half the size of the first. The engineer, Hemayuno, the architect of King Khufu, was able to achieve the ideal pyramidal shape, and he built the pyramid of Khufu in Giza on an area of 13 acres, and the pyramids of Khafre and Menkaure followed.
