Jūrmala Open-Air Museum 🗺️

#myhiddengems During my summer vacation, I visited the Jūrmala Open-Air Museum in Jūrmala, Latvia, and it was a delightful experience. Located about 25 km from Riga, the museum is easily accessible by train or car. The entrance fee was around 8 EUR, which I thought was very reasonable for the experience. The museum showcases traditional Latvian rural life through a collection of historical buildings, including farmhouses, windmills, and even a schoolhouse. Wandering through the open-air exhibits gave me a real sense of Latvian history and culture. The well-preserved structures are set in a beautiful, natural setting, making it a peaceful place to explore. I particularly enjoyed the demonstrations of traditional crafts and the chance to interact with friendly staff in period costume. Nearby, you can explore the beautiful beaches of Jūrmala or take a stroll down the town’s charming pedestrian street, Jomas iela, which is lined with cafes and shops. The combination of cultural enrichment and seaside relaxation made this a memorable day trip.
