Johor Ancient Temple

Address: Lot 653, Jalan Trus, Bandar Johor Bahru, 80000 Johor Bahru, Johor, Malaysia Highlights: This Chinese temple is the oldest religious buildings in Johor Bahru, located in the middle of city. It was built around 1870. The Temple belonged to the five major bang each worshipping their respective gods in the temple as follows: Zhao Da Yuan Shuai (Hainanese), Hua Guang Da Di (Cantonese), Gan Tian Da Di (Hakka), Hong Xian Da Di (Hokkien), Yuan Tian Shang Di (Teochew). The Yuan Tian Shang Di is the main deity of the temple. The Temple has a mixture of shrines for Buddhism, Taoism and other Chinese deities. There is a museum within that explain it's historical existence. Worth visiting although it is just a small temple. There are some very unique artworks that are very hard to find in newer temples. Free entrance, joss sticks are also free of charge. You may give donation if you wish, to help to upkeep the building. You may park your car at the shopping mall nearby.
