5 Hours, 5 Amazing Food Stops: Quick, Delicious Escape to JB

#favouriteitinerary Our 5-hour gastronomic adventure in Johor Bahru was a perfect blend of delightful flavors and unique experiences, all packed into a compact yet unforgettable trip. We boarded the 911 bus from Woodlands Bus Interchange, and by 9:30 AM, we arrived at JB CIQ. A swift Grab ride took us to the bustling Jalan Dhoby area, where our first stop was Tian Xin Lou, a charming Cantonese-style dim sum haven. We indulged in a tempting assortment of freshly steamed dim sum—pillowy buns, delicate dumplings, and crispy delights, each bursting with authentic flavors that set the stage for the day. At 10:30 AM, we wandered over to Bei’s Pastry, right next door, and were instantly drawn to their signature Taro Xiao Bei. The soft, cloud-like pastry encased a luscious, mildly sweet taro paste, offering a delightful balance of texture and flavor. It was the perfect follow-up to our dim sum breakfast. By 10:45 AM, we found ourselves at Pacific Kopi, just across the street. The warm, inviting café provided a cozy spot to unwind with a cup of freshly brewed coffee and their famed 3-in-1 purple fried nian gao. The crispy, golden exterior of the rice cake gave way to a chewy, satisfying bite, making it the perfect companion to our coffee. At noon, we ventured to Palates and Bagels to grab a few bagels to take home for later. The café's selection was impressive, offering a variety of freshly baked bagels to suit all tastes. Afterward, we strolled over to The Bagel Factory on Jalan Wong Ah Fook. Here, we sampled their creative bagels— the Mala Fried Chicken Bagel delivered a tantalizing kick of spice, while the Taro Gao Bagel, with its smooth taro cream, was a delightful combination of savory and sweet. We concluded our culinary journey at Bearth Café, an eco-conscious café with a tranquil, earthy atmosphere. The natural décor, adorned with greenery and sustainable materials, created the perfect environment for relaxation. We sipped on a velvety matcha latte and indulged in the Avo Avo Swiss Roll—both expertly crafted and full of comforting flavors. By 2:15 PM, we took a quick Grab ride back to JB CIQ, and by 3:00 PM, we were back in Singapore, content and satisfied after a whirlwind of delicious experiences. In just 5 hours, we indulged in a delightful array of dim sum, pastries, inventive bagels, and eco-friendly café treats. This whirlwind foodie escape proved that a little time can go a long way when it comes to discovering the diverse flavors of JB! #thingstodo #localfood #myitinerary #malaysiatrip #localfood #afternoonteatime
