The Yellow River Stone Forest

The scenic area is located within the territory of Jingtai County, Baiyin City, Gansu Province, situated on the Golden Tourism Route of the Silk Road and the 380-kilometer scenic travel line along the Yellow River. It is 140 kilometers from Lanzhou, 390 kilometers from Yinchuan, and 350 kilometers from Xining. The scenic area is conveniently accessible and geographically advantageous, now designated as a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national geological park. The Yellow River Stone Forest was formed over four million years ago during the late Tertiary and early Quaternary geological epochs. It is a unique geological landscape shaped by the combined effects of neotectonic movements, rainstorm erosion, gravitational collapse, and wind erosion. The stone forest scenic area features steep cliffs, a myriad of spectacular views, winding paths, and ever-changing scenery. Its superior natural landscape and profound cultural heritage have attracted numerous film and television productions, including 'The Myth,' 'The World's Granary,' 'The Battle of Shama Town,' 'The Great Dunhuang,' and others. In 2014, the large-scale variety show 'Where Are We Going, Dad?' from Hunan Satellite TV filmed its sixth episode here, further enhancing the fame of the Yellow River Stone Forest both domestically and internationally.
