Xishuangbanna | These two hotels are stunning. For this five-day, four-night trip to Xishuangbanna, we chose two hotels, staying two nights in each. They have completely different styles, and here are my experiences. 1️⃣ Siwa Oasis Resort (P2-P9) Attracted by the hotel's Egyptian-style photos, I booked it immediately when there was only one room left. ✔️ Close to the Water Splashing Square, 10 minutes by car from Gaozhuang, quiet with few people and little traffic. ✔️ The decor is very distinctive, full of exotic charm, and the limited space is well-designed, making it great for photos. ❌ The hotel area is small, and the rooms are small. ❌ The hotel is located in a villa community with only one narrow driveway and no parking lot. ❌ The hotel does not blend well with the surrounding environment, so you need to find angles to avoid other houses in your photos. ❌ The breakfast variety is limited and the taste is mediocre. 2️⃣ Xishuangbanna Ji Ze Wanda Mandarin Oriental Resort (P10-P18) Southeast Asian style, complete facilities, beautiful scenery, and child-friendly. ✔️ Rooms: The rooms are large, each with a private pool and garden. ✔️ Beautiful scenery: Infinity pool + pagoda + back mountain + tropical plants, all great for photos. ✔️ Food: Delicious breakfast with a wide variety. For lunch and dinner, there are several restaurants to choose from. We tried the Thai food, which was good, but the service was slow. There is a snack street outside the hotel, and takeout is also convenient, so food is not an issue. ✔️ Special features: Free travel photography service. ✔️ Child-friendly: ▫️ Peacock Garden: There are several peacocks and alpacas. During the day, two peacocks greet guests at the hotel lobby entrance, and in the evening, they return to the Peacock Garden. We happened to see the peacocks displaying their feathers🦚. ▫️ Dragon Fruit Garden: The dragon fruit garden is beautifully lit at night. During our stay, it was the harvest season, so we picked a few to eat, and they tasted good. There are also many mango trees nearby that can be picked. ▫️ Children's Playground: A standard indoor children's playground, but with limited activities and low playability. ❌ Travel: 20 minutes by car from Gaozhuang, far from the city center. ❌ Noise: There is a stray dog shelter next to the hotel, and you can hear dogs barking intermittently at night.
