Arriving at the gate of Jino Village in Jino Township, Jinghong City at 9 a.m. Due to my early arrival, there was a brief welcoming ceremony before entering the village. Accompanied by the cheerful Jino drum sounds, I entered the gate with a Miko (a term for Jino girls). In fact, the touring path in Jino Village is quite convenient because the village is built on Youle Mountain, and many Jino people live there. Therefore, there is only one road for tourists to walk through the entire village. If you like tea, I believe you will come to Youle Mountain to take a look. It is also one of the six ancient tea mountains in Yunnan. Even for those who do not understand tea, seeing this vast tea garden will surely evoke admiration. Walking up the mountain, listening to Miko's explanation, I learned that they worship their Sun God and the creation goddess Ama Yao Bei. They have their own legends, services, customs, language, festivals, and totems, but they do not have their own written language. The patterns on their totems represent the Sun God, Mountain God, Water God, and Tree God they believe in. This is similar to what I learned about the Yi people in Chuxiong, whose totems consist of fire and tigers. In fact, the Jino population is not large, with less than 20,000 people nationwide, all in Yunnan. They are the last ethnic group to be recognized in China. Most of the Jino people now live in Jino Township in Xishuangbanna, making a living by picking tea. In conversations with locals, I discovered that the Jino people are almost all potential tycoons, with many families owning centuries-old tea trees.
