A millennium-old temple in Xishuangbanna that you must not miss

The Xishuangbanna General Buddhist Temple has a history of over 1400 years. It is said that the General Buddhist Temple was built by two Theravada Buddhist monks who came from Myanmar to spread Buddhism. It is the center of pilgrimage for followers of Buddhism in Xishuangbanna (Theravada Buddhism), and it was the sacred place for the highest rulers of ancient Xishuangbanna, called Chao Phien (literally 'Lord of the Land'), and the Tusi chieftains to worship. The General Buddhist Temple is near Manting Park. Upon exiting Manting Park, you can directly enter the General Buddhist Temple. The temples within the General Buddhist Temple are resplendent with gold and glitter, featuring a Thai style, with grand architecture and exquisitely carved beams and columns. As soon as you step into the temple, you are stunned by the lifelike and splendid Buddha statues. Entering the main hall is still magnificent, and you are required to remove your shoes. Girls must kneel barefoot to show devotion and respect. Whether it is the architectural style or the historical status, the General Buddhist Temple is a spot you cannot miss for checking in.
