Potterying around Jingdezhen

If you love pottery and ceramics, then Jingdezhen is the place to go. Owing to bad planning on our part, the slowest taxi driver in Wuyuan and the overly complicated way of booking train tickets in China if you don't possess a Chinese ID card, we missed a train and had to wait 2 hours for the next, meaning a fairy short day trip. The train journey from Wuyuan to Jingdezhen North takes around 30 mins, passing mostly through tunnels. It took us a while to organise taxis to the Ceramic Kiln Museum. Once inside the park/museum, it offers very pleasant grounds to walk and take in the various sights. Taking pictures of the Pagoda/Temple through a ceramic statue was popular. It's worth seeking out the less busy areas to get a feel for the rich heritage and history of the ceramic industry. The museum, within modern interpretation of Kilns, is ok if you like to see broken pots and old relics. Otherwise, it's a great place to cool down. The last train to Wuyuan from Jingdezhen North leaves around 6.43pm which is rediculously early. We missed it obviously, so had to organise taxis to get us home. Not the easiest task, but the impossible is usually possible in China. In the meantime, we had a wonder around the surrounding city area which was bustling with local life. Watch out for the swam of moped riders. They come at you from every direction. We could of spent much longer in Jingdezhen, perhaps staying a couple of nights as there is much to see. #china #foodie #urbanexplorer
