The Shandong Museum, a rich and fascinating place to visit

The Shandong Provincial Museum, also known as the Shandong Museum, is the first provincial comprehensive geographical museum established after the founding of New China, located in Lixia District, Jinan City, Shandong Province, and was established in 1954. The museum covers an area of 34,000 square meters, with a building area of 21,000 square meters and a main building area of 82.9 thousand square meters. The upper part is a silver-white semi-circular dome, which resembles a spring and is a symbol of Jinan, the provincial capital. The treasures of the museum include the Dongping Han Tomb murals, eggshell black pottery cups, oracle bones, and 'The Art of War' by Sun Tzu. The museum has more than 140,000 historical artifacts, more than 130,000 modern artifacts and textual materials, and more than 8,000 natural specimens. The museum's natural specimens include more than 10 categories and nearly 200 varieties. Among them, trilobites, Taishan swallow stones, dinosaur fossils, and Shanwang fossils have a significant impact in the fields of paleontology and geology at home and abroad.
