It is located on the Songhua River within Jilin City, Jilin Province, 15 kilometers from the main urban area. The water area is vast, with numerous lake forks, resembling a dragon. It is the largest lake in Jilin Province. It was formed by the construction of the Fengman Hydropower Station during the Japanese occupation of Northeast China in 1937.
