Stroll through the old streets and alleys of Xintang Ancient Town for a wellness tour, and check in at the Xintang Ancient Town Film Base to travel back to the Republic of China

⛱️Must-visit attractions: As a Shanghainese, I've been to Jiaxing, Zhejiang many times. But this is my first time visiting Xintang Ancient Town. At the entrance of the town, there's a large plaque: 'Wellness Ancient Town,' suggesting that the locals here are well-versed in wellness. Arriving at Xintang Ancient Town in Xiuzhou District, Jiaxing, this town, rich in life, connects to the Grand Canal, boasting a long history and the charm of a Jiangnan water town, with an introduction hanging that reads 'Wellness Ancient Town.' For the fast-paced and tense people of the magic city, coming to this leisurely town can indeed be rejuvenating. The town also has hot springs, which attract many locals in winter. Xintang Ancient Town is built along the river, with small bridges and flowing water. The riverside corridors are full of the hustle and bustle of daily life. Strolling through the old streets and alleys, the ancient buildings, though somewhat dilapidated, bear the marks of time. Here, it feels like the whole world has slowed down... 🌄Travel Guide: Crossing the Wensong Bridge, you will see a large, quiet area with a sense of history and stories: ancient streets, mottled bluestone slabs, green tiles and white walls, flying eaves and arched walls. The architecture here seems somewhat different from the surrounding buildings, blending European style with Chinese elements, traditional craftsmanship with modern touches. Coming here, you instantly feel transported back to the Republic of China period nearly a century ago. It turns out this is the Republic of China Film Base in Xintang Town: two large movie posters first come into view, with 'Romance on Lushan Mountain' on the left and 'The Traveler with Handcuffs' on the right. Below the posters, the large red characters 'People's Cinema' indicate the identity of this building. More than half a century ago, this was a bustling theater. Next to the theater are two tall black iron gates. Pushing the gates open, a strong 'Republic of China style' greets you. The entire street's walls have been transformed into the iconic gray walls of the Republic of China period. Walking down the street, you can also see clock towers, rickshaws, bicycles, theater posters, and other items rich in Republic of China characteristics, fully showcasing the style and features of that time.
