The Grand Canal from Beijing to Hangzhou flows through Jiaxing, weaving into a magnificent ribbon

I have never figured out why the section of the Grand Canal that flows through Jiaxing is called "Hangzhou Tang". "Hangzhou Tang" starts from Xili Bridge in the urban area of Jiaxing, passes through five administrative villages in Xiuzhou District, flows through Puyuan Town, Wutong Town, Longxiang Subdistrict, Shimen Town, Chongfu Town, and Dama Town of Jiaxing Tongxiang, and enters Xinyu Village of Yuhang Canal Town in Hangzhou, with a total length of 60.1 kilometers. The millennia-old Grand Canal has fostered all kinds of charm. A single canal has given rise to various ancient towns in Jiaxing, playing an extremely important role in the formation and development of Jiaxing as a 'land of fish and rice, and a house of silk'. The Hangzhou Tang section of the Grand Canal has a wide river surface and clear waterway, with most of the riverbanks protected by blocks of stone cemented together, and both sides are widely planted with various flowers, plants, and trees.
