Mitu Temple in Jianyang

Mitu Temple was originally built during the Ming Dynasty, and was renamed Mitu Temple in the 26th year of the Republic of China. It was abandoned in 1950, and in 1989, with the approval of the Jianyang County government, it was rebuilt on its original site at Shengyang Cave, north of the city. It is located on the north side of the Chengyu Railway bridgehead at the north gate of Jiancheng, by the Jiangxi River. The Mitu Temple complex covers an area of over 40 acres, and now includes the Shengyang Cave, the Three Saints Hall, the Ksitigarbha Hall, the Ancestral Masters Hall, the Reclining Buddha Hall, the Ten Buddhas Hall, the Heavenly Kings Hall, the Seven Buddhas Hall, the Guanyin Hall, the Mahavira Hall, the Arhat Hall, the Chanting Buddha Hall, the Bell and Drum Tower, and the Lay Buddhists' Garden, among more than twenty other buildings.
