In the past few days in Yunnan, the weather has been really bad—gray and gloomy, and the temperature unusually low [bitter] Nanming Xiandong in Jianshui is probably a place few tourists from outside visit. Whenever I go to a city, I like to wander around rather than visit popular spots. After exploring the city, I headed to the mountains. 📍Address: Gaojiazhuang, Yanbasi, Miandian Town, Jianshui County, Honghe Hani and Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province 🚗Transportation: You can take bus route 21 directly; the transportation is very convenient. You can also take a taxi, drive yourself, or rent an electric scooter to get there. It’s 17 kilometers from the county seat to Nanming. ✅At noon, the sunlight shines directly into the cave, making for great photos. ✅The Buddha statues here come from different eras and religions, including Taoism, Buddhism, Confucianism, and some local deities. Nanming Xiandong, which Xu Xiake missed out on back then, deserves to be discovered by more people. Hopefully, one day it will have even more thriving incense offerings…
