Spain's third largest city ~ Valencia

🇪🇸 The second largest seaport and the birthplace of paella: Valencia This pearl of the Mediterranean has a history of over two thousand years. The old town features a mix of architectural styles. What caught my eye immediately was the Valencia Cathedral of the Assumption of Our Lady (photos two, three, and four). It is the main cathedral of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Valencia, blending Gothic, Catalan, Romanesque, Baroque, Renaissance, and Neoclassical styles... The Holy Grail used by Jesus at the Last Supper is preserved here. The Valencia Holy Grail dates back to the 1st century AD, traveling from Jerusalem to Rome and passing through many hands. It was brought into the royal treasury by the King of Aragon and eventually given to the cathedral. It has circulated for a thousand years, enduring wars, migrations, and wanderings. The faithful who guard it have changed generation after generation, yet the relic remains intact. Life is finite, but faith is eternal.
