The Sacred Mountain in the Grasslands ✨ Hinggan League ❤️ Recommended by locals, it's said to have many unique stones and is a sacred mountain for Mongolians. ✨ It's truly magical, a large mountain rising from the flat grassland. The mountain is covered in jagged rocks, and I wouldn't dare climb it alone. There are many naturally formed holes in the mountain that look like skulls from afar… ⚠️ The scenic area is large, with small paths leading to the summit. It requires climbing over rocks, which is a bit challenging, but the rock surface has good friction. The stones feel rough to the touch, kind of like sand, but very solid. ⛰️ There are many small caves on the summit, each containing different Buddha statues. They seem to have been placed there spontaneously, as there are many kinds, including some damaged ones. There are Buddhist, Taoist, and some local faith statues. I even saw a statue of the Wry-necked Mother… 🧘‍♀️ Some of these caves are just big enough to sit in, like ancient meditation retreats. Sitting there, the view is incredibly vast, and you feel like you're absorbing the essence of heaven and earth, hahahahaha. 💥 This place is so sacred; there must have been hermits cultivating here in ancient times. 🌙 As it was getting dark, I only climbed the back hill and didn't dare to continue. But this mountain looks truly magical. I'd love to come back next time and allow more time to explore. I didn't make it to the opposite mountain due to time constraints. 💫 Leaving the scenic area before sunset, I encountered two locals coming to worship. This is the first time I've encountered a mountain with religious significance on the Inner Mongolian grasslands. Walking up the mountain takes about 10 mins. 🧐 Introduction: The Bogda Uula (Sacred Mountain) Festival, also known as the Sacred Mountain Festival, is an important part of Mongolian primitive beliefs and nature worship customs. 📍 Bogda Uula is located in Zhalute Banner, Hinggan League. The Bogda Uula Festival is held every year on the 21st day of the fifth lunar month. ✨ The day before the festival, worshippers bring the statue of the mountain god to the summit and hold a ceremony, using hadas to pray for blessings and invite the mountain god. The ceremony begins at dawn on the day of the festival. The mountain god is invited to the mountain god ovoo, offerings are made, scriptures are chanted, and hymns are sung to Bogda Uula. The scriptures call upon the five mountain gods to gather and bestow happiness, health, and favorable weather upon the people. After the ceremony, people circle the mountain god ovoo three times in the direction of the sun, adding stones, praying, and receiving "Adis" (offerings bestowed by the mountain god). After the entire ceremony, Naadam, Uriankhai wrestling, folk singing, Mongolian chess, and deer chess are held, creating a traditional cultural space. Now, more than 60,000 people participate in the Bogda Uula Festival every year.
