🇹🇷Wandering in the Kingdom of Stars and Moon | Istanbul | Old Town⠀ ⠀ It took 16 hours to reach Istanbul from Hong Kong via Doha. I had originally planned to stroll around and exchange money at the Grand Bazaar on my first day, but I was too tired from the long journey so I had to cancel the day's itinerary and randomly found a restaurant near the hotel. Unexpectedly, the food in that restaurant was surprisingly delicious. ⠀ ·⠀ We arrived at the old town on the second day and visited several must-see attractions. ⠀ 🚩Grand Bazaar⠀ There is an indoor market selling many local specialty products. I saw many ceramic bowls and plates with beautiful patterns, but unfortunately I couldn’t take them all back. ⠀ I bought a shawl here, which I can use as a headscarf when I go to the mosque. It cost $25TL (about HK$32). ⠀ ⠀ ✨It is recommended to arrange it at the first or second stop of the itinerary. The exchange rate at the market is the best, and you can tie the shawl directly on the mosque after buying it; remember to bargain when shopping! ⠀ ·⠀ 🚩Sultanahmet Camii⠀ Also known as the Blue Mosque, it is a must-see attraction in Istanbul. There are many tourists, but it is still worth a visit. ⠀ 💰Free admission⠀ ·⠀ 🚩Basilica Cistern⠀ One of the largest above-ground water reservoirs, it has a natural cool feeling, perfect for cooling off when it’s too hot outside. ⠀ 💰Entrance fee: $20TL⠀ ·⠀ 🚩Hagia Sophia⠀ I had visited some mosques before and felt that they were all pretty much the same, so I didn't spend extra money to enter and just took photos outside. ⠀ 💰Entrance fee: $60TL⠀ ·⠀ In fact, the attractions in the old town are quite concentrated and can be reached by walking alone. We spent most of the day visiting all the attractions near the old city. It was only around 6pm when we walked back.
