TLDR: Decent lie-flat seats with impeccable dining but passable service Airline: Turkish Airlines Class: Business (J) Flight: Rome-Istanbul Flight time: 3h50min Aircraft: A330-300 Overall rating 4/5 Seat comfort: 3.5/5 Crew: 3.5/5 Food: 5/5 🥇🥇 // After a superb ground experience in the legendary Turkish Airlines Business Class Lounge in Istanbul New Airport, I was all ready for my first time on a non-SQ business class product. For any travel blogger, trying a new cabin product always comes with so much excitement and anticipation. For this short haul intra-Europe flight, I was lucky to receive a full flat product courtesy of Turkish where other “low cost carriers” such a British Airways and Lufthansa would’ve given you just an economy seat with the middle blocked off. Nonetheless, this seat is old and wear-and-tear was definitely showing. The IFE screen was also tiny given the seat pitch. The seat reclines directly into a flat bed and comes with a nifty massage function 💆🏻‍♂️ Service on this flight was passable at best. The crew didn’t give off the warmth you’d expect in a business class cabin and they didn’t seem to be happy working there. All interactions were cursory and no one was addressed by name. They also seemed rather disinterested in explaining the menu and drinks options. Thankfully, dining on all Turkish Airlines flight is always top notch. Catering by Do&Co out of Istanbul is simply fantastic. A refreshing lime spritz started the flight off on the right foot. This was followed shortly by Arabic mezze, lamb kofta, cheese platter and strawberry shortcake. Of course, free flow champagne and Turkish wines were also on offer 🍾 All in all, a rather decent flight and probably one of the only lie-flat intra-Europe business class seats out there. Dining by Do&Co is impeccable as always.
