From Kaya & Butter Toast to Nasi Lemak Special : A Culinary Journey at Ipoh’s Lim Ko Pi Kopiam.

#ipohfood#foodie#localfood#kopitiam Tucked in the heart of Ipoh, Lim Ko Pi is more than just a traditional Chinese kopitiam, it’s a charming portal into Malaysia’s rich culinary heritage. Dining here with local friends added a warm, authentic layer to the experience, plus the retro ambiance, making every bite feel like home. Their Nasi Lemak Special, a hearty ensemble of fragrant coconut rice, crispy anchovies, spicy sambal, hard-boiled egg, and a generous portion of rendang chicken. The balance of flavour, aromatic, and slightly spicy & sweet, was spot-on, and a true celebration of Malaysia’s national dish. The Kaya & Butter Toast arrived golden and crisp on the outside, yet deliciously soft within. Slathered with creamy kaya and cold butter that melted just slightly, it was a comforting treat that paired perfectly with their famous White Coffee, smooth, bold, and full-bodied, exactly what Ipoh is renowned for. The Chicken Curry is served in a rich, spicy broth with tender slides of chicken. The noodles were springy and soaked up the curry’s robust flavor beautifully, making it a soul-warming dish. A standout was the Belacan Fried Rice with Prawns. Wok hei was evident in every bite, the belacan lending a bold umami punch, while the prawns were fresh and juicy, adding just the right touch of luxury to a rustic favorite. To end on a sweet note, we had a bowl of Ice Cendol, a refreshing finale layered with pandan jelly, red beans, atap seeds, shaved ice, and rich gula melaka syrup. It was the perfect antidote to the warm afternoon heat. Dining at Lim Ko Pi was not just about food, but about reconnecting, with culture, with friends, and with the simple joys of traditional Malaysian fare. The ambience, with its retro decor and casual buzz, rounded out an experience that felt both nostalgic and sincerely satisfying. 🥪☕🥦🍜🍗🥗🍤🍝🫘🍧🌶️ ⭐ Rating: 4.9/5. A must-visit kopitiam in Ipoh for anyone craving authentic flavors, friendly company, and a taste of Malaysia’s culinary soul. 🕘 Lim Ko Pi Kopitiam is open daily from 9 am - 4.30 PM, and closed on Monday. 📍10, Jalan Sultan Iskandar, 30000 Ipoh, Perak.
